The English dictionary defines the word 'power' as the capacity to do something and the ability to take action. When you are empowered you assume your power to take action and be in control. A very important principle that very few people seem the ever master is that you and only you are living 'your' life and that you are the only one that can ever be responsible for it. Ultimately YOU create YOUR life and only when you are empowered do you feel like you are in control and that you call the shots. It is when we are in this empowered state of mind that we feel good about ourselves and when we really have the ability to affect our own lives. What I would like to do here is to look at three empowerment affirmations that will help you to take control of your life and to assume this power to control and direct your own life.

Affirmations is a technique that only recently became popular through self development books and programs, but the idea is as old as mankind. Ancient civilizations realized the power that words can have to affect our minds and they applied it to the extreme. Through chanting and rituals they were able to do some pretty unbelievable things like walk on fire.

The fact of the matter is that affirmations are incredibly powerful in affecting our minds – and to be more specific, it greatly affects our subconscious minds. An affirmation is a statement that acts like an instruction to your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is that part of you that is all-knowing, wise and extremely powerful. It is that mysterious part of our minds that lie beneath our logical comprehension and reasoning. Whatever you impress upon your subconscious mind will come to pass.

We can use affirmations in various ways, but primarily we can use it to either break or create habit patterns of mind, or we can use it to deliberately attract things, people and circumstances into our lives. As soon as you affirm something as 'being so' you direct and instruct your subconscious mind that immediately gets activated to bring what you affirm to be true into your physical experience. Using affirmations is an incredibly effective way to empower yourself. Here are three empowerment affirmations that's incredibly effective. You might want to write them down and commit them to memory – and then repeat them often - until they become a part of who you are as a person. Remember that whatever you affirm, with feeling, will be so.

Empowerment Affirmation #1

I Am Free To Decide In Every Moment That I Am Alive And I Get To Create The World I Live In.

You might say that your entire life is nothing but a series of choices. For every choice you make there will be consequences. But instead of beating yourself up about so-called 'wrong' choices, simply choose again. This is your ultimate freedom in life. When you don't like something – just choose something else. Even if it is as basic as choosing to think differently about something, you always have the power to decide what you will choose to think and feel.

When you make this attitude part of who you are, you will always be empowered, knowing that you are the master of any situation that you meet. The way you master things is firstly in your mind, and on the most basic level you can choose how you look at any situation in your life.

Empowerment Affirmation #2

I Am Mine. I Live Each Day With Passion & Power And All That I Need Is With Me And Within Me Right Now.

No matter how much someone else might try to control you and your life or how 'out of control' your life might feel, it is still YOUR life. You have to live it and no one can ever get in behind your eye-balls to live your life for you. You have to own your life for only then can you really appreciate it for the perfection that it is. Living a life of joy and passion is not something that will come from outside you, but it is an attitude that you bring to your life. Nothing outside of you will ever give you the things you really want, which always boils down a feeling – and this you have total control over.

The solutions and the answers to anything in your life are always inside of you. When you affirm this you will start to realize just how true it is and only then can you start to live with that knowing that will free you from 'other people' who determine your circumstances.

Empowerment Affirmation #3

I Am The Voice, I Will Lead Not Follow, I Will Believe Not Doubt, I Will Create Not Destroy, I Am A Leader.

Anyone that's ever been to a Tony Robbins seminar will know this affirmation really well. It is probably one of the most powerful things that you can affirm to yourself because ultimately you are 'the voice'. You and only you lead your life. Affirm it, believe it and live it and watch your whole life transform.

foolishly you have scurried about. Learn to be silent and you will

How to discover your life purpose in about 20 minutes
excerpted from the article linked above by Steve Pavlina
"Here's what to do:
  1. Take out a blank sheet of paper or open up a word processor where you can type (I prefer the latter because it's faster).
  2. Write at the top, "What is my true purpose in life?"
  3. Write an answer (any answer) that pops into your head. It doesn't have to be a complete sentence. A short phrase is fine.
  4. Repeat step 3 until you write the answer that makes you cry. This is your purpose.

That's it. It doesn't matter if you're a counselor or an engineer or a bodybuilder. To some people this exercise will make perfect sense. To others it will seem utterly stupid. Usually it takes 15-20 minutes to clear your head of all the clutter and the social conditioning about what you think your purpose in life is. The false answers will come from your mind and your memories. But when the true answer finally arrives, it will feel like it's coming to you from a different source entirely."
